SPCA Update – From Feb. 5th

The SPCA found 2 tortoises in the township being kept under horrific conditions.

In South Africa it is illegal to keep tortoises or any indigenous animals without a permit. The SAPS assisted the SPCA in this operation.

Upon arrival at the first premises there was found a hole drilled into one tortoise’s shell and a chain was attached to it. The animal was immediately cut loose and confiscated.

At the second premises there was a baby tortoise kept in a chicken coop, with the chickens, forced to eat the chicken poop to survive. This tortoise was confiscated as well.

Both animals are at the SPCA, living a happy life with plenty of food, space and sunlight. Your continued support is appreciated. Click here to donate.
