What is Cardano ?

  1. The Cardano Network

Cardano is a decentralised public blockchain and cryptocurrency project and is fully open source. Cardano is developing a smart contract platform which seeks to deliver more advanced features than any protocol previously developed. It is the first blockchain platform to evolve out of a scientific philosophy and a research-first driven approach. The development team consists of a large global collective of expert engineers and researchers

Cardano is more than just a cryptocurrency however, it is a technological platform that will be capable of running financial applications currently used daily by individuals, organisations and governments all around the world. The platform is being constructed in layers, which gives the system the flexibility to be more easily maintained and allow for upgrades by way of soft forks. After the settlement layer that will run ADA is complete, a separate computing layer will be built to handle smart contracts, the digital legal agreements that will underpin future commerce and business. Cardano will also run decentralised applications, or dapps, services not controlled by any single party but instead operate on a blockchain.

  2. ADA Tokens

Cardano is home to the ADA cryptocurrency, which can be used to send and receive digital funds. This digital cash represents the future of money, making possible fast, direct transfers that are guaranteed to be secure through the use of cryptography.

  3. Who created Cardano?

    charles hoskinson

It was created by blockchain development firm Input Output Hong Kong (IOHK) and led by Charles Hoskinson, former co-founder of BitShares, Ethereum and Ethereum Classic, and aims to run smart contracts, decentralized applications, side chains, multi-party computation, and metadata.

There are three organisations that are contributing to the development of Cardano and ADA. The first is the Cardano Foundation, an independent standards body based in Switzerland with core responsibilities to support the community of Cardano users and to work with authorities on regulatory and commercial matters. The second entity working on Cardano is IOHK, a leading cryptocurrency research and development company, which holds the contract to develop the platform until 2020. The final business partner is Emurgo, which invests in start-ups and assists commercial ventures to build on the Cardano blockchain.

How to trade ADA Tokens

  1. Where can you Trade, Buy and Sell ADA Tokens

The beauty of the internet and internet currency is that you can trade the markets all the time 24/7 365 days of the year. Buying or Selling ADA is very easy and simple on the iceCUBED Exchange. Simply select the ADA/ZAR or ADA/BTC trading pair and place your BUY and Sell orders.

  2. How to store ADA Tokens

To store ADA, use the Daedalus Wallet made by Cardano which is a software wallet which can support many currencies, specifically ADA. This way, you and you only have control over your coins and they can not be hacked or scammed. Never store your coins on an exchange or web based wallet where you do not control the private keys. Only keep coins on an exchange that you intend to trade with, there is no reason not to.

  3. How much do Cardano Tokens (ADA) Cost ?

Trading ADA Tokens like a commodity is very much the same as trading gold, the difference being, ADA Tokens in this instance are like digital gold. Just like gold is traded on stock markets all over the world, Cardano (ADA) can also be traded on exchanges all over the world. The price at which ADA is trading, is purely down to supply and demand. We do not get involved in any trading (i.e. We do not sell or buy on the exchange). The local market price for ADA in South Africa is down to the users trading on the exchange.
